MR. BURNS: A POST-ELECTRIC PLAY || JAN 22 - 31, 2027

By Anne Washburn, with music by Michael Friedman

In a world without power, a group of survivors gathers around a fire, clinging to a familiar episode of The Simpsons to make sense of what’s been lost. As the years pass, their shared story transforms into something larger, stranger, and unexpectedly profound—exploring how we remember, rebuild, and find meaning after what seems like the end.

CONTENT advisory & AGE RECOMMENDATION

This play with music is recommended for mature teenagers and adults. While the play heavily references The Simpsons, Cape Fear, and pop culture, the overarching themes deal seriously with global catastrophe, and trauma, grief, & death related to the haunting loss of a modern world.

This show contains profanity & offensive language (including the “f-word”). There are non-firing replica firearms which will produce a loud, abrupt, simulated noise. These guns are safe for our audience and our cast/crew. There is violence with swords & sabres and hand-to-hand combat. Additional production-specific elements, such as unique staging, lighting, or sound effects will be finalized during rehearsals. At this time, the production is recommended for ages 14+. Lakeshore does not “rate” productions, as sensitivities vary from person to person.

Pay-what-you-want

The Pay-What-You-Want performance for this show takes place on TBD. To select Pay-What-You-Want pricing, choose your seat for this performance and the Pay-What-You-Want option will be at the top.
