Write It in 10!
Saturdays, November 21 - February 6 | 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM
(No classes November 28, December 26, January 2)
Led by Sam Landman & Nissa Nordland
In partnership with White Bear Center for the Arts
What happens when a work of visual art becomes the beginning of a story? In this collaborative playwriting class, participants will use artwork on exhibit at White Bear Center for the Arts as a jumping-off point for creating original 10-minute plays. Each week, the group will spend time with selected works from the gallery, exploring the characters, conflicts, worlds, and questions they inspire before bringing those ideas to the page.
Designed for brand-new writers and experienced playwrights alike, the class will explore the fundamentals of writing for the stage—including character, dialogue, structure, conflict, and how to tell a complete story in just ten minutes. Participants will generate new material, share work in a supportive environment, receive feedback, and revise toward a finished short play.
No previous playwriting experience is necessary—just curiosity and a willingness to create.
Join us for this collaboration of art, writing, and theatre! Hurry—spots are limited and registration closes November 9.
