THE PLAY’S THE THING!

CSI: ZOOTOPIA

Cruise the dark streets of Zootopia with Judy and Frank as they unravel clues, find suspects, and solve the Crime of the Century . . . or at least of that afternoon.  Students will work together to make up an original police procedural adventure based on the characters from the movie Zootopia.  This will be made into a play, rehearsed, and performed for family and friends the last class period.  Perfect for beginning and experienced actors alike!

 

Day & Time: TUESDAYS and THURSDAYS from 4:00-5:15 pm

Dates: February 12th, February 14th, February 19th, February 21st, February 26th, February 28th

Showcase Performance: February 28th at 4:45 pm

SCRIPTED SHENANIGANS

THE DRAGON PRINCESS

Princess Lenore has fallen afoul of a Dark Wizard and been transformed into a dragon!  Since the princess has vanished, and a dragon has appeared, the King and Queen assume the dragon has eaten her.  A Brave Knight is summoned to slay the beast, and Princess Lenore must face him.  Can she convince everyone that she is really the princess under a spell?  Will she ever get her true form back?  To find out, join us in this original play, written especially for this program.  Participants will help decide what roles they play, and everyone gets a speaking part.  It will be rehearsed, and performed for family and friends during the last class period.  Perfect for beginning and experienced actors alike!

SPRING BREAK AT LPT!

SPRING PLAY-CATION!

Why do you think what happens in a theater is called a “play”?  Spend your week off from school playing theater and improvisation games – jump around and make funny noises, use your playground voice inside, make up stories and play-pretend!  At the end of the last class period the participants will show off their favorite games and stories for family and friends, who will be invited to play with them.

Day and Time: MONDAY to FRIDAY from 1:00-3:00 pm (one week of class)

Dates:  March 11th, March 12th, March 13th, March 14th, March 15th

Sharing Showcase: March 15th at 2:30 pm

EMERGING VOICES

Lakeshore Players Theatre is thrilled to offer a new program for students interested in pursuing their passion for theatre and honing their craft.

 

Emerging Voices is a workshop and performance series that pairs Twin Cities Professional Theatre Artists with a performance by Lakeshore Players Theatre for a night of incredible theatre education and conversation. Secure your spot today to ensure you won’t miss this incredible opportunity!

 

Each ticket to an Emerging Voices workshop night includes a workshop with a Twin Cities’ Theatre Professional, dinner hosted at LPT, a ticket to the current LPT performance, and a talk back with the cast and crew after the show.

Workshop with Theo Lanagson

Join Twin Cities theatre artist and member of Black Out improv troupe, Theo Lanagson, for a workshop that will activate your body, voice and imagination as we use play and improvisation to explore character.  Much like the actors Ken Ludwig's Baskerville, we will create an impossible amount of characters and have an have fun doing it.

STEEL MAGNOLIAS || March 23, 2019

Workshop with Paran Kashani

Learning the ropes to mastering special effects (SFX) makeup is an easy road once the basic techniques are covered. In our workshop, “SFX: Tissues Please,” we will focus on fundamentals that can be adapted to creating realistic old age makeup, bruises, wounds, and scars.

Additional $10 material charge for this class.

BROADWAY TAP

Tap has been synonymous with Broadway for almost as long as The Great White Way has been in existence. Even if you don’t know how to tap, join us in learning some tap basics which will give you the confidence to feel secure in your dance call. Already know how to tap? Join us anyhow, and learn how to really show off your skills in the audition room or on stage, and help you stand out and be noticed!

Theo Langason is theatre artist and teaching artist based in Minneapolis, MN.  Theo is a company member of Sandbox Theatre, and member of Blackout Improv.  As performer, director and musician Theo has worked with Park Square Theater, Pillsbury House, Frank Theatre, and Ten Thousand Things.  Theo also works a teaching artist for Guthrie Theater, Penumbra Theater, Ten Thousand Things and Upstream Arts.

Paran Kashani

Paran Kashani is a local theatre artist and delighted to be a part of Lake Shore Players this season with her workshop on SFX makeup! Recent credits include Mary Poppins, Legally Blonde, and She Loves me through Artistry theatre, and apprenticeship at the Playwright Center.

Anna Esposito is a performer, choreographer, and educator in the Twin Cities. She has trained, taught and performed all over the world from Spain, Poland,the U.K., and across the United States. She most recently was on faculty at Omaha Rhythm Weekend sharing the stage and classroom with some of the best Tap masters in the world. In the Twin Cities she has worked with Stages Theatre Company, Youth Performance Company, Children’s Theatre Company, Lyric Arts, and many more. Her choreography has also been seen on national stages and even television for Rochester Motors.  She currently dances with Keane Sense of Rhythm and teaches for Escalate Dance and Theatre Studio and Eleve Performing Arts Center. 

 

OPPORTUNITIES FOR STUDENTS 6-8

“yes, and?” LPT’S IMPROV CLUB

Join funny person and Twin Cities actor, Katie Rowles-Perich and become a member of the first LPT improv club! We will meet once a week on Mondays from 4:00-5:30 and go through the 8 week process of creating a true "improv team!" Then, show off all your new found skills to friend and family in an evening improv show on the last day of class! Open to students 6th through 8th grade.

Tuition includes 8 weeks of improv instruction, an LPT Improv T-shirt, and dinner on the last day of class! 

Days and Times: MONDAYS from 4:00-5:30 pm

Teaching Artist, Katie Rowles-Perich

Hailing from the neighboring city of Shoreview, Katie Rowles-Perich is thrilled to begin her journey with Lakeshore Players Theatre. She is a recent graduate of the University of MN, Morris where she studied Theatre Arts and Elementary Education. Growing up with a comedian for a mother, Katie has always been surrounded by humor.  She was fortunate to lead her college improv club while being a member of two troupes during her time in Morris. Improv is the perfect way to exercise communication skills while having a blast and creating lasting friendships.
